As soon as Camille stood on the podium at the World Championships in Leogang we set to work creating her Rainbow jersey.
It's not a normal year and it's far from a usual race calendar and with only a few days between Camille's World Championship race run at Leogang and track walks in Maribor for the start of the World Cup we had to get a move on.
At Únic we have a huge advantage that we're a small team and that we operate our own factory, so when one of our riders or customers needs something in record time we can be sure to get it arranged.
The first step of the process was to design Camille's jersey with World Championships stripes. This is then printed on to a special paper that allows the inks in the design to turn to gas when heat is applied. This process, called sublimation, brings the ink and fabric together to create a permanent design that is embedded in the fabric rather than simply laying it on top.
Once the sublimation process is complete the UCI stripes won't fade or crack even when embedded in our breathable, 4-way stretch material.
Before the design is cut and ready for sewing, our team checks the quality of the sublimation to ensure there are no blemishes or imperfections. Once it has passed this first quality control step the materials are then passed to the cutting and preparation tables.
Materials are cut by hand by experienced craftspeople, then each element is prepared by adding the final touches before sewing and assembly. Camille and the entire Dorval team wear our Signature jersey which has some neat hidden features like an integrated goggle wipe, and small zip pocket hidden in the seam.
With all the elements of the jersey prepared, they are then carefully sewn together. Again, this is all done by our team in Europe to ensure World Championship quality. Local production also allows us to run a careful 2nd quality control step before shipping.
We don't use disposable packaging for our kit, so just like all of our customers, Cam's kit comes in a reusable Únic kit bag perfect for carrying your kit, goggles or anything else that you want to keep safe. Once carefully packed, the jersey is shipped by FedEx ready for the first round of the 2020 Downhill World Cup.
From winning the World Championships to racing the World Cup, Camille's custom Únic kit takes just a few days and she's ready to race in her UCI rainbow-striped jersey for the rest of this season and next.
Únic custom kit isn't just for pro riders, our designs are available to all riders. Simply design online, choose your style, colours, add your name and even logos, and your custom kit will get the same 5-star treatment that Camille's has.
